There are many brands of oil; any oil that meets or excedes Manufacturers specifications is acceptable. There are 100% synthetic oils and part synthetic oils. Use of oils other than manufacturer’s specifications is an unnecessary additional cost. The most important is to use a correct weight of oil, not necessarily a specific brand of oil. Oil filter is the key to keeping the oil clean and retaining pressure in the system for a next start. Some filters do not have the internals to meet the manufacturer’s specifications. Driving on low oil drastically shortens the life of the power plant. Running out of oil is sure death to the engine.
