Smog stuff
It is rather confusing to find out who can test your vehicle. The notice sent by the DMV indicates on the right hand top the type of test your vehicle requires. Unless the vehicle is directed to a Test Only station it can be tested anywhere. If your vehicle is directed to a Test Only station and it fails the test, you are automatically entitled by the State to receive $500.00 towards repairing your vehicle. The name of this program is CAP. Ask the testing station for an application. If you elect not to avail the CAP program you may have any Smog Certified station perform the repairs and bear the cost yourself. There are other programs also available by the State for failed vehicles, ask us.
